Young, Wild and Well Activity Sessions

Young, Wild and Well Sessions for SENs, Special Education Schools & Youth Groups

We offer free nature-based wellness sessions for youth groups, SENs and special education school groups in the Belfast Hills and other local green spaces.

Wild Wellness

Belfast Hills PartnershipUlster Wildlife and Barnardo’s NI have joined forces to deliver an exciting new Youth Programme called Young, Wild and Well, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. This project delivers outdoor wellbeing sessions with young people with additional needs or facing mental health struggles, from Primary School age to 30 year olds. The sessions are held in and around the Belfast Hills, using nature as a tool to connect with young people and increase their physical and mental health, incorporating the 5 steps to wellbeing.

Who can participate

We serve young people aged 8+ with an emphasis on neighbourhoods around the Belfast Hills. Young people can participate through a youth group, community group, or school group, or join our Nature Club at Ulster Wildlife’s Bog Meadows if they are aged 12-14.

Young, Wild and Well sessions involve:

  • Crafting with natural materials
